Fall Beauty

So long sweet summer. It’s that time of year again where cable knit sweaters and booties are on our radar.

But before we dive into transitioning our closets, let’s switch up our makeup bags. Put away those pastel nail and lip colors and stock up on the deep berries, cool blues and greys of fall 2014.

This season we are zoning in on defined eyebrows and berry lips. (It’s all about the brow thanks to supermodel Cara Delevingne.) To achieve the bold brow look, focus more on filling in the brow than tweezing. Find a brow pencil either a shade lighter or a shade darker than your natural color depending on how bold you want your brows to look; Laura Mercier’s Eye Brow Pencil has four different shades to choose from. Now that you’ve got a pencil, it’s time to start perfecting those beautiful brows!

Fill in your eyebrows using small strokes in order to properly blend the color into your brow. Once you’ve filled in your brows, apply a brow gel (like Sephora’s Transparent Waterproof Brow Gel) to ensure your brows will last all day.

Once you’ve mastered the bold brow, complete the look with a deep lip color. Check out the different shades of berry like a purple-red rosewood and carmine red. We love NARS’ Satin Lip Pencil in Palais Royal and Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in Stain Bordeaux Red. If you prefer to shy away from a dramatic lip color, a nude lip with bold brows makes a great Sunday brunch look. For this look, swipe on Bobbi Brown’s Lip Color in Beige.

It wouldn’t be fall without a manicure change now would it? Deep blues, greys and reds are the perfect nail transition this fall. Our favorite colors for fall are Essie’s Power Clutch, a deep gray-green hue, and the dark purple-black shade of OPI’s Viking in a Vinter Vonderland. Remember whenever you opt for a statement nail color, keep your nails short.

With these beauty trends to look forward to, suddenly we’re not missing summer quite so much!
