Sightseeing Packing and Style Tips

Q: I’m traveling to São Paolo, Brazil for two weeks this summer, where I will be doing a lot of sightseeing and walking. What should I pack that will allow me to be both stylish and comfortable?

A: Before traveling to any new destination, make sure to check the weather forecast, and what season it will be that time of year. Although it’s winter in Brazil, the high temperatures will be in the 70s and the low temperatures in the 50s – perfect for exploring the city all day and night! With the right accessories, you can easily look chic while soaking in the sights and culture of São Paolo.

To keep the fuss of international traveling to a minimum, pack light by bringing a neutral purse and shoes that will match any outfit. Look for a bag that is big enough to hold your essentials day to night excursions, and one with a cross-body strap to allow you to be hands-free. Fun details like studs and hardware will ensure your neutral bag makes a style statement.

For shoes, opt for booties that give you the support and protection necessary for wherever your adventures take you. A low heel gives just enough of a stylish boost, but is still comfortable for walking around all day. Taupe suede booties remain a strong wardrobe staple, adding a bit of a globe-trotting flair to any day or night look.

To prepare for the fickle weather, throw a light scarf in your bag. Lightweight and easier to carry around than a jacket, a scarf will still keep you warm on chillier nights and can be styled in a variety of ways to freshen up your ensemble.  Pack one with a colorful print that will inject a vibrant pop to your outfit.

Finally, don’t forget to pack these other Brazil-worthy items: a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun; layering-friendly pieces like billowy dresses, airy cardigans, and a variety of t-shirts and tanks; and lots of jewelry (easy to pack and a quick way to change up your look). These key pieces will assure a memorable adventure in São Paolo!
