Style on the Side Streets

Photographers and bloggers Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist and Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil have long been giving us premier access to the peripheral happenings of Fashion Week with their unique eye for fashion and photography: backstage as the models preen and prep, incredibly well-dressed editors and celebs shuttling from show to show and a first glance at the after-party festivities.

While we remain devotees to the street style veterans, here are our top five bloggers whose photography we can’t get enough of during Fashion Week.

Le 21ème. Eschewing the title of a street style blog, Le 21ème touts itself as a, “photo-journalistic view into the daily world of fashion from cities and Fashion Week around the world.” The impressive result? An arresting collection of still-life narratives of Fashion Week each with an individual perspective and raw appeal.

Trendy Crew.Barcelona-based blog The Trendy Crew surpasses its name of merely covering what is in vogue now and looks towards the over the top, avant-garde and forwarding leaning styles. Feathers and furs, incredible sky-scraping footwear and architectural silhouettes make regular appearances on this blog that celebrates the fantastic runway garb as it takes to the streets.

AltamiraNYC.Founded as a model off duty blog in 2006, AltamiraNYC has expanded to include a roster of street style favorites including Giovanna Battaglia, Carolina Issa and Hanneli Mustaparta. Faithful to its original model-focused charter, Altamira remains a go-to for glimpses at what the Delevigne sisters, Arizona Muse,  Jourdan Dunn and their ilk are sporting off the runway from New York to Paris.

Candice Lake.Photographer Candice Lake may be best known for her street style image contributions to Vogue. In turn, her impressive post as the Contributing Style Editor has honed her editorial eye as she assembles trend stories and style retrospectives from her own body of work to share on her personal namesake blog. Prepare yourself for a fantastic collection of who’s-who in sleek, crisp and sharp ensembles.

Citizen Couture. If your style gravitates toward the off-beat, daring and edgy, Jason Jean’s Citizen Couture is a veritable hot bed of style inspiration. In addition to covering the happenstance street style, Jason selects a handful of fashion innovators to highlight in his recurring feature, “In the Spotlight” where he organizes a mini-shoot around a single person and outfit, usually going on a brief excursion with his subject.
