Holiday Market at Central Park, December 2 – 24 Even if you already crossed everyone off on your holiday shopping list, grab a cup of hot cocoa, wrap your scarf twice and visit the Holiday Market at Central Park. The Nutcracker Ballet Opens in Chicago, December 5 Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score comes to life with the Chicago Jeoffrey Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. Choreographed by Robert Joffrey, the ballet tells the favorite holiday story of the fantastical adventure of Clara, a young girl who is transported into a winter wonderland and must combat the evil Mouse King to save the Prince of the Land of Sweets. Christmas Day, December 25 The most wonderful time of the year culminates in the arrival of Christmas Day. Do more with your family and loved ones than exchange gifts: tour the different holiday lights of your neighborhood; channel your Snow Day childhood and go sledding or ice skating; host a holiday movie screening of your favorite Christmas classics.

Into the Woods Opens, December 25 Set in an enchanted world inspired by the Grimm fairy tales, the movie, Into the Woods, features Meryl Streep as the Witch who plots against characters of children’s stories including Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford) and Rapunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy). Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Into the Woods allows its star-studded cast to show off their singing skills and their darker whimsical sides.
