World Vegetarian Day – Wednesday, October 1st This week, #MeatlessMonday is falling on a Wednesday for World Vegetarian Day, the official kick-off event to Vegetarian Awareness month. For vegans and carnivores alike, today is a day for opting for meatless entrees and learning more about the health and environmental benefits of a vegetable-laden diet. Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Los Angeles – Saturday, October 11th, 2014 A longtime sponsor of polo matches, the iconic champagne house Veuve Clicquot returns with its annual Polo Classic games in Los Angeles, benefitting Will Rogers State Historic Park where the games will also be held. After a 70 year hiatus, Veuve Clicquot reintroduced the Polo Classic in 2008 in New York City’s Governors Island before moving to the West Coast in 2010. CMJ Music Marathon – Tuesday, October 21st through Saturday, October 25th In its 34th year, the CMJ Music Marathon has become one of the hottest tickets for music devotees and concert goers in New York City—one CMJ badge gives you access to 1,400 live performances across 80 music venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. The Kills, The Cold War Kids and Slowdive are notable acts to see this year. Be sure to line up for your favorite bands early as, even with a badge, entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Winter Village at Bryant Park – Tuesday, October 21st through Sunday, January 4th The Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park has become a wonderful holiday tradition. The Holiday Shops, over 100 pop-up boutiques with wonderful gifts for everyone on your list, line the perimeter of the park while the Bryant Park great lawn is converted into an enormous skating rink. (Although the holiday shops are closed on January 4th, the rink remains open until March 1st.) In turn, the park is transformed into a whimsical and wintry destination to put you in the holiday mood.
Halloween – Friday, October 31st With Halloween falling on a Friday this year, there is no reason to sit out on the All Hallows’ Eve festivities!
