Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week – September 4th – September 11th The official start to the (unofficially named) Fashion Month begins with the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. Beginning with the rise in popularity of 3D printing and “wearable technology” like Google Glasses, fashion and technology are becoming increasingly enmeshed within Fashion Week. This year, the CFDA acquired the ubiquitous Fashion Calendar, the official schedule of New York Fashion Week which was previously organized by the legendary Ruth Finley who oversaw the organization of shows for 69 years. Although the changes will not into effect until 2015, the CFDA plans to streamline the scheduling process for designers and editors with a digital and mobile platform.

Vince Camuto Opens in the Yorkdale Shopping Centre – September 5th Come to the Vince Camuto’s first Canada flagship in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre on September 5th at noon to celebrate the official opening of the store! Sip on champagne and shop the new fall/winter collection. Also, Vince and Louise Camuto will be in attendance to toast the opening of the new store!

Feast of San Gennaro – September 11th – September 21st Nestled along the streets of New York’s historic Little Italy neighborhood, the Feast of San Gennaro is a 10-day festival to carry on the Italian tradition of celebrating the Patron Saint of Naples San Gennaro. Walk all along Mulberry Street and enjoy Italian treats and delicacies like a cannoli or crispy ultra-thin crust pizza. Visit Little Italy on Saturday, September 13th at 2PM for the Grand Procession, a parade of floats and marching bands.

Lorde Performs at United Palace Theatre in New York – September 15th and 16th The moody electro-pop sound of Lorde captured everyone’s attention with the release of her song “Royals” in June 2013. The 17 year old New Zealander has garnered critical acclaim for her soulful voice and deep lyrics that are well beyond her few years. Throughout 2014, Lorde has been performing at a slew of music festivals around the world and finally arrives for a hotly anticipated performance at New York’s United Palace Theatre. Mexico Independence Day Parade – September 15th This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Mexico Independence Day Parade in New York City. The celebration has grown from its humble one block route in Astoria, Queens to a ten block procession along Madison Avenue from 27th to 38th Street in Manhattan. Folkloric groups will perform traditional Mexican dances and songs alongside lavish floats and special guests including world renowned wrestler El Hijo de El Santo and actor Eliseo Flores.
