PUNK: Chaos to Couture Exhibit Closes – August 14th
This year’s Costume Institute installation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art investigates the evolution of punk from its 1970s beginnings to its impact in contemporary fashion. The work of designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander McQueen is featured alongside music videos from punk bands such as the Ramones and The Clash. Set aside a day to get lost in punk fashion before August 14.

MTV Video Music Awards – August 25th
The 30th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which will mark the first time any award show has come to the borough. The VMAs are notorious for over-the-top performances and outrageous antics from music’s biggest names, so this special year will certainly bring no less. Look out for top nominees such as Justin Timberlake and Macklemore when the show airs live at 9PM EST.

MoMA PS1: Party Wall Exhibit Closes – August 31st
Head over to Long Island City to see the winning project of this year’s Young Architects Program at the MoMA PS1. Party Wall is a large outdoor pavilion and adaptable structural space that provides shade for those walking beneath and through it, among many other functions.
