The crème de la crème of the fashion world and art society congregate at the illustrious Metropolitan Museum to celebrate the annual opening of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibit. This year, the alwayshotly anticipated exhibition will explore the underground punk culture’s influence upon fashion. “Punk: Chaos to Couture” will include works by designers as rebellious as their inspiration including Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, and Azzedine Alaïa.
The Great Gatsby Opens – May 10th

Frieze New York – May 10th – May 13th
For a second year, the international contemporary art show Frieze New York returns to Randall’s Island Park in Manhattan. One of the most talked-about installations is by artist Paul McCarthy-- notorious for his tongue-in-cheek sculptures—who is set to unveil his latest piece: an 80-foot-high inflatable “balloon dog.”
